The LANCELIN Diminution rope is an all-purpose rope for dinghy and sports boat. Its unique construction with its dyneema/polypropylene mix cover and its removable core gives it solidity and fluidity, dyneema is naturally solid and slippery.
It exists in two versions: polypropylene core or dyneema core.
For polypropylene core version, that's cover which gives resistance, the core is only there to give volume to the rope and thus have a better grip. The core can be removed where it is useless, to reduce the volume and the weight of the rope (mast head, internal part of a hoist, etc.) The removal of the core does not require any seamanship skills and allows To have an impeccable finish on the string, all you have to do is extract the core at one point, cut it and re-smooth it so that the small remaining end re-enters the sheath. There will be no hanging point on the rope, no sheath discontinuity or whipping to be done. In addition, the remaining sheath is 16-ply, it is easy to splice. For example, in 9/10, this rope is very popular for mainsheet on sport catamarans. Thus the part which remains permanently in the pulleys is in Ø8mm, and the part which we have in hand is in Ø9.5mm. Similarly for a spinnaker halyard, the part that you never have in hand and that remains in the mast can be 3mm and the other 4mm. In the version with SK78 dyneema core, this rope is even more resistant, so it can be used in more demanding positions on the boat.
Points forts :
